Put the scope beside the price
Read each proposal by room, surface or exterior area. Mark removal, preparation, installation, finish work and cleanup. A lower total may cover less work, while a higher total may include tasks you did not request. Ask for clarification instead of assuming the proposals are equivalent.
Check materials and supply responsibilities
Identify the intended products and who purchases them. A product allowance, owner-supplied material and a fully specified material package are different arrangements. Discuss delivery, availability and how changes to selections will affect the proposal before ordering.
Ask about findings that cannot yet be confirmed
Concealed conditions may not be fully understood before removal or access. Ask what assumptions the estimate makes and how additional work will be documented, priced and approved. A useful process makes changes visible before they become a surprise.
Confirm the project terms
Review payment arrangements, timing, access, any required approvals and applicable written coverage directly with the contractor. Keep a copy of the agreed documents. This site does not publish a universal project price because dimensions, conditions and choices vary between homes.
